The folks in Pierre deserved a shirt so we designed one for them. In fact, we think we designed a really nice shirt to honor the capital of South Dakota and its people. It’s a fabulous Heather Grass Green color that just pops. It simply screams “Spring” and we could all use a dose of that right about now.
The green comes about because green and white are the school colors for the high school in Pierre. Their team nickname is the Governors which is pretty appropriate. Not a lot of teams named the Governors, so give ‘em that.
Floyd Bannister was born in Pierre in 1955 and went on to pitch in the major leagues for 15 seasons. There aren’t a lot of major leaguers born in South Dakota so we count heavily on all of them to represent. And yes, he pitched for the Governors to the tune of 15-0 back in 1973.
Pierre sits proudly on the east bank of the Missouri River, just a few miles from Oahe Dam where a whole lotta folks go fishing year around. In spite of that geographic location, many people in Pierre think of themselves as part of West River, South Dakota. We think that flies in the face of logic, but people think what they wanna think, right?
Some other things we think you should know. There are only 85 men in Pierre for every 100 women, and Pierre sits smack dab in the middle of a USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5. How about that?
Back to the shirt. We offer it for people big and small. That means there’s an X-Small size to counter balance the 3XL shirts we also offer in this design. If you have roots in Pierre or just want cheer for the city, we think you should own one of these shirts. We built it for you.
